Sometimes less is (really) more.

We’re big fans of 37Signals in Chicago and use many of their applications in running our various divisions. We really like their solutions for a few reasons. One reason is that they aren’t over complicated (or over thought out) and are not loaded down with features that we will never use. Their solutions are designed beautifully and they just work. They get the job done.

When we were in the initial development stages of designing GuestPulse, we really took several ideas and concepts from the folks at 37 Signals and designed our restaurant focused online reputation management solution to just work. Simple as that.

When we started the process, we began with a white board of 258 possible features we wanted to incorporate into the application. So far, only34 have made it.

Less is more. The 34 features we did decide to move forward with and incorporate into the application, just work. They are simple, user friendly and have a near nonexistent learning curve.

Keeping the solution simple has really helped us in training, labor, support, and additional development.

There are many social media monitoring tools in the marketplace. We don’t care about the Fortune 500 restaurant chains. We would much prefer to focus on the Fortune 5 million group of restauants that need a cost effective solution that just works.
